Residential area of Burgbreite
Sunny south sides of the hill, situated right at the forest’s edge and below the castle of Wernigerode’s pleasure garden and zoo form the green countryside of the acclaimed residential complex that holds ca. 1000 apartments. Apartment sizes in our portfolio range from one-room apartments to four-room apartments.
Additionally, this residential area that was built in the 70s feature an excellent infrastructure. It features an all-day school, a medical center, nurseries, and retirement home, as well as shopping facilities. The outstanding city bus line ensures accessibility and mobility.
The "old building" at the chestnut forest. An apartment house has been restored completely here and updated energetically in terms of insulation. The former 50 four-room apartments became 74 small one-room and two-room apartments with a new layout. Otmar Alt, a famous artist, created the exterior design. The notable artist was born in Wernigerode and honored with our city’s culture award in 2005.
Otmar Alt’s paintings are characterized by a particular expressivity in colors and his unique way of creating innovative imaginary figures by mingling organic forms with an implied figurativeness. So, the city of Wernigerode lives up to its reputation of being the “colorful city in Harz” a little more by the façade design of the building in “Burgbreite”.
